Exotic, warm, friendly, inviting all perfectly describe Indonesia. There's Bali of course, the place of dreams, with local artisans, the Ubud Palace, the Monkey Forest Sanctuary, world-class surfing and beaches, and many holidays celebrating their predominantly Hindu culture.

Venture out from Ubud to the countryside and you'll find iconic temples, UNESCO World Heritage rice terraces, and villages along the way to check out local food and have a chat.

A quick hop by air or water taxi to Lombok - Bali's less touristy neighbor - gives you a very different cultural experience, and some of the world's most amazing natural attractions like hiking Mt. Rinjani or diving (or just chilling) in the Gili Islands.

Wherever we go, we always have a beaten up guidebook, local phrasebook, and weatherproof map in our backpacks.
